- The Banff Community Society was a liaison group representing town of Banff to the Government of Canada. Over the years, various groups have represented the interests of Banff residents and businesses in the absence of municipal government. These have included the Banff Board of Trade, 1912-1915, the Banff Citizen's Association, 1921 (became the Banff Advisory Council in 1925). The latter served until 1978, when the Banff Advisory Society (later the Banff Community Society) was organized. In 1983 the Banff Community Society's responsibilities were assumed by the Banff School Board.

- The Banff School District No.102 provided elementary and secondary education for Banff and area from 1887 until 1994, when it was replaced by the Canadian Rockies Regional Division No.12. During the 1970s and 1980s the district assumed, in the absence of a municipal government, responsibilities for aspects of local government as well as school administration. After 1990, the district's responsibilities strictly pertained to public education.

- John Charles (Bo) Holroyd, 1889-1974, was a national park warden and rancher at Waterton Lakes National Park and Twin Butte, Alberta, Canada. Born and raised in Prince Edward Island, Holroyd moved to Pincher Creek, Alberta in 1907. In 1920, following careers in ranching near Pincher Creek and soldiering in France and Belgium, he was appointed to the civil service as a Park warden. He began his twenty-seven year warden career in District #3, Pass Creek, Waterton Lakes National Park. In 1933 he became Supervising Warden of the park and moved to Lower Waterton Lake. He managed the Warden Service in Waterton until his retirement in 1947. For a further twenty-seven years, Holroyd raised livestock.

- Bruno Engler, 1915-2001, was a mountain guide, ski instructor, photographer and film maker at Banff and Canmore, Alberta, Canada. Engler arrived from Switzerland in 1939 and initially worked as a mountain guide and ski instructor for the Canadian Pacific Railway, Sunshine ski area and for Deer Lodge at Lake Louise, Alberta. During the Second World War, he served as a mountain warfare instructor for the Canadian Army. Following the war, Engler worked as a free-lance photographer for the National Film Board and others; as coach of the University of Alberta Ski Team; and as a technical advisor, cameraman and actor for numerous movies made in the Banff area. Throughout his career, Engler worked as a still and motion picture photographer, both for the movie industry and for governments at all levels, as well as operating his own business, Alpine Films of Banff, Alberta.

Photographs pertaining to film making include helicopter rescue; highway construction; Norquay, Sunshine, and Lake Louise ski areas' histories; Banff events and buildings; Canmore events and buildings; professional and amateur ski races; scenic mountain and wildlife; mountaineering and highway accidents; mountain guiding trips including Pierre Trudeau, Roland Michener and Peter Lougheed. Fonds consists of four series: Photography, Motion Pictures, Sound Recordings, and Textual records. Photography series consists of four sub-series established by the photographer: I. Interviews covered Engler's life, but are not complete to 1987. Transcripts, prepared from recordings by Brenda Goeres, are not verbatim. Audio tape cassettes consist of portions of content of audio tape reels.
- Textual records include corporate records, newspaper clippings and magazine articles pertaining to film making, cast and crew listings and schedules for various movies, ski racing, mountain guiding trips and ski race listings. - Duncan W. Johnson, 1879-1961, was a civil servant at Banff and Jasper, Alberta and Ottawa, Ontario. Between 1911 and 1917 Johnson, as Chief Accountant of Parks Branch, introduced a bookkeeping and accounting system into the Western National Parks and was assigned as acting Superintendent to Jasper National Park. During the years 1917-1920, Johnson conducted the first national parks publicity campaign which popularized the national parks with the prairie provinces and promoted the national parks as an auto tourist destination. In his efforts to expand tourist traffic to western Canada and the national parks, Johnson's plans included collaboration between Glacier National Park in the United States and Waterton Lakes National Park.

- Howard E. Sibbald, 1865-1938, was Chief Warden for Rocky Mountains Park (Banff National Park), Alberta, Canada beginning 1909; Dominion Parks inspector until 1923; and Superintendent of Kootenay National Park from 1923 until 1932. Sibbald, son of Andrew Sibbald, was born in Ontario and came to Alberta in 1875. He was educated at Morley and later became Indian Agent there and at Gleichen. He was in business with Norman Luxton for a time before joining the National Parks service in 1909

Photographs pertain mainly to warden activities in Rocky Mountains Park, including Kananaskis area; also to Howard Sibbald and associates, park operations and services, wildlife, landscape and buildings in Rocky Mountains, Kootenay and Waterton National Parks and other parks and regions. Narrative, written 1923, describes the journey of Andrew Sibbald (author's father) and family from Stroud, Ontario to Morley, Alberta in 1875; also Howard Sibbald's life in the west during the 1870s to 1923
