- File consists of 10 photographic prints, (9 mounted and 1 loose, 8 b&w and 2 colour). Content includes multiple Canadian scenic photographs, (ships, winter scenes, landscapes), a gag photo of Nicholas Morant and another unidentified man titled 'Onions', a view of a village, possibly in Peru, depicting a person with a donkey travelling down a dirt road, and a gag photo of Morant wearing glasses and a hat (with caption "The Author (as a young man)" written on the back). Many of the prints in this file were taken early in Nicholas Morant's career (ca. 1936 - 1940), and most are dated and signed by Morant. One attributed to 'Associated Screen News', creator unknown.

- Some of these photographs may have been published and used for professional purposes following their creation. However, the specific copies of the photographs contained within this file were used by Nicholas Morant for personal display, and therefore have been categorized as personal photography. Each print within this file was originally framed, and recently removed due to storage and conservation reasons. Some of these frames were annotated as follows: PA Oversize - 3: Label on back of frame reads "Hudson's Bay Company ART DEPARTMENT 13760 WINNIPEG" and "13760" PA Oversize - 7: Label on back of frame reads "The T. - History / Biographical
- John ["Jack"] MacAulay (1918 - 2000) was born in Banff to parents Ella Maud [Woodworth] MacAulay and the late John MacAulay. Jack also had a twin brother, Thomas ["Ted"] MacAulay (1918 - 1984). Jack and Ted's father, John, died in an accident in November 1917, prior to their birth. Following the marriage of their mother, Maud, to Forest Kidney in 1923, Jack and Ted were raised together in the Kidney family residence in Banff. Jack was an avid hockey player during his teenage years; following an accident in 1940, however, a serious injury to Jack's right eye prevented him from competing. From 1943 to 1945, Jack worked for Boeing Aircraft of Canada Ltd., and in 1946 he was appointed as the Chief Inspector of War Assets for Alberta and the Yukon Territories. In March 1946 he met Karin Wallensteen, and the two were married in October of that year. Jack and Karin had 6 children together: sons Herb and John, and daughters Karen, Shelley, Jodi and Julie-Ann. Throughout his life, Jack remained an active member of Banff's sports community. Jack served as a coach for the Banff Minor Hockey League for 46 years. Jack also took on several other positions within the Bow Valley community, including work as a volunteer with the Banff Figure Skating Club, a co-founder of the Banff Recreation Board, and a member of the Banff Advisory Council, the Banff Hospital Board and the Banff School Board.

Photographs depict Jack and his twin brother Ted MacAulay at the Kidney family home in Banff with their trained cat, 'Bill'; Jack and Ted outside of Kidney Kabins in Banff; Jack posing with four male friends, two of which are holding rifles; Jack posing with friends 'Al' and 'Dick' in Banff in 1937; Jack presenting an award to hockey player Art Krowchuk early in his coaching career; and 6 professional photographs of the 'Simpson Sisters' Mary and Margaret Simpson, including some portrait style images and two images with the sisters skating together [ca. 1937 - 1938].

Photographs pertain to various sports and recreation activities, including individual and team sports, in and around Banff, somewhere in Saskatchewan (?), and possibly Medicine Hat. Photographs document winter and summer sports, including skiing, hockey, snowshoeing, dogsleds, boxing, canoeing, and horseback riding.
- Notes
- One photograph, ca. 1916-1921, is likely of Charlie Reid (far left) on a high school team (looks like rowing). The team's uniform says "JENKINS" on the front. Charlie went to high school in Medicine Hat.
- One photograph of a man in the snow with snow shoes sticking up is annotated with "Jas Bryant, Banff" on the back.
- One photograph, that is quite blurry, is annotated on the back with "Halliwell winning Sask. steeplechase, Oct. 15/26". Photograph depicts the competition with people on foot and on bicycles.
- One photograph is annotated on the back with " Dog derby at Banff, 1st 10 mile lap, Feb. 5/24." Photograph depicts a group of people and dogs with sleds in front of Brewster's Hall.
- One blurry photograph depicting a snow shoe race is annotated on the back with "Dear Charlie, Unfortunately this is the best I got of the snow shoe race. Sorry. Best wishes, Geo. Barley."
