Charles Henry McAulay, 1874-1966, was briquette plant manager at Bankhead, Alberta, 1907-1912, and General Construction Foreman for Rocky Mountains Park / Banff National Park from 1912-1939. Following his retirement in 1939, McAulay was foreman for private companies. McAulay was married to Cecilia Mayola McAulay, 1888-1953.

Fonds consists of McAulay's personal and professional papers and photographs.
Textual records are mainly employment papers of Charles McAulay as General Construction Foreman for Rocky Mountains Park and Banff National Park, 1912- 1939; includes correspondence, memoranda, journals, notes, timebooks and other materials pertaining to public works projects, in particular road building and maintenance. Also includes McAulay's personal journal, 1942-1963, which includes periodic observations on activities of McAulay and family, Banff events and deaths of Banff residents.

Duncan W. Johnson, 1879-1961, was a civil servant at Banff and Jasper, Alberta and Ottawa, Ontario. Between 1911 and 1917 Johnson, as Chief Accountant of Parks Branch, introduced a bookkeeping and accounting system into the Western National Parks and was assigned as acting Superintendent to Jasper National Park. During the years 1917-1920, Johnson conducted the first national parks publicity campaign which popularized the national parks with the prairie provinces and promoted the national parks as an auto tourist destination. In his efforts to expand tourist traffic to western Canada and the national parks, Johnson's plans included collaboration between Glacier National Park in the United States and Waterton Lakes National Park.

Howard E. Sibbald, 1865-1938, was Chief Warden for Rocky Mountains Park (Banff National Park), Alberta, Canada beginning 1909; Dominion Parks inspector until 1923; and Superintendent of Kootenay National Park from 1923 until 1932. Sibbald, son of Andrew Sibbald, was born in Ontario and came to Alberta in 1875. He was educated at Morley and later became Indian Agent there and at Gleichen. He was in business with Norman Luxton for a time before joining the National Parks service in 1909

John Porter, b.1922, was a civil engineer, surveyor, photographer, skier, writer, artist and national park warden at Banff, Alberta, Canada. Porter came to Banff in 1948 and, until 1952, worked as an assistant warden in various districts. From 1952 until 1966, he operated his own photographic business, IBEX, in Banff. From 1966 until his retirement, Porter worked as a technician for the Sulphur Mountain Cosmic Radiation Laboratory in Banff; then travelled, painted and photographed extensively in Mexico, while spending summers working in Banff as a surveyor. Porter now lives in Sooke, British Columbia.

Fonds consists mainly of photographs pertaining to John Porter, friends and associates, especially Jim Deegan; mountaineering and skiing; warden activities, including 1955 training school; Fairholme Ranch; Sulphur Mountain cosmic ray station; and Banff events, including Banff Indian Days and 1951 royal visit.
