- A daytime scene of a Stoney encampment. At the left of the painting there is a looming teepee which appears to be in the immediate foreground. The encampment forms a circle in front of the viewer with the teepees at their smallest in the distance in the middle of the painting. The teepees are a variety of colours. In the middle of the painting behind the encampment are green rolling hills and beyond the hills are grey mountains. People are milling about within the encampment. The sky is blue but across the entire top of the painting there are grey clouds.

Groups of figures and dogs sit or stand around at the entrances to the teepees. There is a larger group sitting in a circle at the lower edge in the center. The blue sky is heavy with streaks of orange and grey clouds filling the upper half of the picture.
