- Description
- A colour woodcut print. The image is a landscape of a lake area. In the background are two small islands with trees. Behind the larger island to the right is a round, yellow setting sun. The sky in the background appears hazy yellow. In the foreground a lake and a brown vine with green leaves dominates the scene coming in from out of frame at the top left of image and hanging down nearly all the way to the bottom of image. It appears that 5 or 6 colours were used in the print, primarily green, blue, brown and yellow. The artist’s signature is in the bottom rhc “WJ Phillips”. From accompanying write up it could be assumed that the image is of Lake of the Woods area near Winnipeg.
