- View of Bow Lake, looking east towards Mount Hector in the distance. In the background are two mountains. The larger one on the right is coloured in grays: violet-grey, dark blue-grey and green-grey. A large cloud sits above the mountain, hiding its summit. The smaller mountain on the left is a medium blue-grey. A second cloud floats in front of this mountain, though the summit is visible above the cloud. In the left foreground a tall tree frames the picture. Some grey stokes indicate dead branches about the base of the tree. The lake in the middleground has the reflection of the larger mountain, in slightly lighter tones than those found on the mountain. The upper part of the reflection is indicated with small vertical strokes, while horizontal strokes are found in the lower section.

- View of the Bow River looking west towards the Bourgeau range. The Bow River fills the foreground and disappears around a bend near the picture's centre. The reflections of trees, mountains and sky have been lightly sketched on the river's surface, with much of the pale beige ground showing through the paint. The river's banks have been outlined in black. A tall group of dark evergreens is located on the righthand bank, near the picture's centre; while a staggered row of trees can be seen in the distance on the left bank. The trees on the left bank are simply indicated by thin vertical brushstrokes of dark green paint. In the background a range of violet mountains can be seen. The mountains appear to recede into the distance since their details are blended rather than distinct.

The stream flows from the lower righthand corner into the background, and disappears under a bridge (near the picture's centre). The right bank of the stream is also covered with brush and grasses. A few evergreens with grey trunks stand at the far right. The bridge is depicted in the same green-greys and violet-greys as these trees. Behind the bridge is a forest of evergreens with black and brown shadows. The background trees by the right end of the bridge are coloured with deep blue. On the right, beyond a gap in the trees, part of a peak can be seen (painted with light browns, violet-grey and dark grey). Above the peak, in the light blue sky, two oblong clouds have been roughly sketched in.
