- Sam Ward, 1884-1973, was a builder and finishing carpenter at Banff, Alberta, Canada. Ward and Louisa Maud "Cis" Ward, 1884-1970, came to Banff in 1912. Sam Ward was also known for music hall recitations. He later lived at Victoria, British Columbia

Personal papers of Sam and Cis Ward include correspondence and cards, 1950s-1970s; and note and guest books, 1902-ca.1960s. Professional records are plans for proposed residences for Sam Ward and Sydney R. Vallance and an addition to the Homestead Hotel. Photographs, ca.1912-ca.1970, pertain to Sam Ward, Cis Ward, friends, activities, hikes and mountain trips, world travels, homes; Sam Ward building projects; Banff town scenes, buildings and people. - David Mowbray Soole (1885-1959) was postmaster at Bankhead until 1913 when he moved to Banff to establish a real estate and insurance business. He sold the business in 1919 and bought the Homestead Hotel in Banff which he operated until 1945. Eric and his wife, Violet, had two children: a daughter, Ivy (Bond), and a son, Eric A. Soole. Eric Astley Soole (1918-2012) grew up in Banff and Calgary. He married Sylvia (Maberley) Soole (1924-2016) in 1942 or 1943. Eric served in the Royal Canadian Air Force
