- Nell Harris (née Gray) was born June 20, 1925 in LaRiviere, Manitoba, the daughter of Garnet and Frances Gray. She moved to Winnipeg and married Glyndwr Harris in 1949 and their daughter Ellyn June Harris was born in 1951. The family moved to Edmonton and then to Calgary ca.1957. Nellie Adeline Gray Harris died in 1997.

The Harris' travelled from Edmonton to Calgary, through Banff, past the Columbia Icefields, and then up to Jasper. The diary is accompanied by photographs and postcards from the trip and other photographs taken 1955-1961.
