- Description
- Single-barreled shotgun with wooden stock and breech carved in one piece. Single trigger protected by flat metal trigger guard activates hammer which is attached to one side of breech. Oval metal button passes through oval metal plate on either side of handgrip beneath barrel. Wooden ramrod held along length of barrel by two metal loops beneath. Deep cross hatching incised into base of wooden stock and handgrip. Marks: metal breech, trigger guard and hammer engraved with curlicue design, flying duck on trigger guard, and 'I. Hollis & Sons, London' on side of breech, along with two flying ducks; "Marshall-Wells Alberta Co Ltd" stamped on top of barrel;Note: plate on left side of breech replaced with crude strip of cast iron, stock broken at trigger and held together by copper wire and buckskin thong.
