History / Biographical
James Outram, 1864-1925, was a minister and mountaineer in England and Canada. Outram was born and educated in England and had a career in the Church of England until 1900, when he was forced, due to ill health, to go abroad. He began to climb in the Canadian Rockies in 1901 and in the few years following made numerous first ascents. He lectured and wrote on mountaineering and was an early honorary member of the Alpine Club of Canada
