- Almost square coasters. (a) has light brown and gold lacquer duck pond scene. Two cracks on left and right edges almost meet each other. Remnant of written label resembles "with" or "lith". (b) has grey and gold heron and pine tree scene. Crack at bottom right corner 3.0 cm. long. Label on back says "for Miss Maggie Brooks with kind regards of her friend W.H. Metcalf...Nikko, Japan July 7, 1877" and Japanese calligraphy written down the right side of the label.
