One yellow/beige mailing envelope, addressed to Nicholas Morant at home address in Banff. Handwritten label by Morant referencing "Rungius" (likely Carl Rungius), possibly the sender. Previously contained 4 non-annotated copies of Audubon magazine (November 1984 issue) which have been moved to box of non-annotated Morant textual content in upstairs vault (accn. 7784).

Description: Scotch 208, 5 inch reel Side 1: Arthur Teghart homesteading at Windermere in 1886; guided hunters in early 1900’s. Guiding supplemented farm income. (Bob, Buster), continued family outfit after 1925. Jim Tegart started about 1929; own outfit in 1943. Used wild horses in pack string (total 40). Areas hunted. Built trail in Squaw. Lodgepole, Marion creeks, White River. Indian hunting trail from Kananaskis. Game roads and decline. Tegart Pass and mountain. Jim Thompson guided. Tents reverted to cabins (on Albert River, Tipperary Falls, Queen Mark Creek). Frequent fly-camping. Names of ole-time game wardens. Side 2: Albertans hunted the Palliser. Austrian hunters. Woman hunter, 69 years old. Lost-supplies fording river. Doreen cooked for most parties an all-day job. Daughters have cooked, sons did guiding. Old area outfitters: Jim and Gordon McKay (upper Kootenay, Beaverfoot), Bill Harrison (Alpine Club). Big Bend highway work. Banff-Jasper highway packing. Rode a horse to death. Hunted Purcell Mountains. One-armed hunter.

Source: Unidentified Indigenous man[Frank Kaquitts?] Date: 1969 Interviewed by: Catharine Whyte Speed: 7 ½ Remarks: Box is labeled “Whistler, 1969, Tom McCullough” but contains an interview with unidentified Indian – possibly Frank Kaquitts? Side A: Unidentified Indigenous man talking to Catharine about being very sick and escaping from the hospital at Morely. Got a ride with Fred Holloway to the Banff Indian Days. Met up with George McLean at the Banff Indian Days. Describes a vision – vision of temptation . . . never sick again – with somebody, not seen but guided by him. No fear. Side B: Continuation of tape – this side should be Side A. Describes working for Calgary Power with George LaBelle and getting very sick and taken to the hospital at Morley. Has a vision while in the hospital – meets Jesus Christ.
