The Luxton Family Bible belonged to Sarah Jane Luxton (Norman's mother) who passed it to Olive Luxton (Norman's sister); it was then passed down to Mary Nell Hosking (Norman's niece), then to Gail (Mary's daughter). The bible contains a family history, a record of marriages dating back to January 10, 1842, births, 1818, and deaths, 1848 (middle section; p.111 cont'd).

May 8 Battleford engagement with Poundmaker and Big Bear and discussion of the wounded from the Fish Creek fight. May 10 passed site of Fish Creek Battle and was shot in shoulder. May 12 discussion of Battle of Batoche. May 15 Riel taken prisoner and discussion of “half breeds.” June 3 short description of Battle of Loon Lake. Returned home July 20 and continues with office work, correspondence and financial matters. M546 / 2 : Includes travel to/from Calgary, Winnipeg. Camp preparations.
