Two pieces of harness leather at each end with the strand leathers brought through them to form fringe, and hanging ties at the top of each piece of harness leather. Ties would tie immediately behind neck. A brass necklace with pony beads in a traditional men’s design. Long green ribbon ties at front of neck. Additional long grey ribbon attached to brim higher on face. Inside back is reinforced with burlap on which is glued brown paper. Written in Mary Schaffer’s hand: “18 S.M. Potts 1832 Calasche”. On back, ribbon is tied in bow. Green fabric stitched on back to cover neck.
