Shopkeeper, man dressed in brown grey kimono, brown apron, yellow fabric stuffed in front, is kneeling on the floor. Head is partly shaved with along top knot. Fine china face and hands, hands on lap. Items for sale: various kinds of cooking knives, scissors, teapots, cauldrons, rice cookers, basins, hoes, scythes, altar pieces for buddhism and shintoism worship, cooking stoves, fish broiling metal wire grills, shovels.

Japanese basket shop, fully furnished. Base which forms floor of shop is 33.3x21.4x3.0, woven mat floor is an off white colour. Shop walls are bamboo rails and woven bamboo, 18.0x28.0x8.3. The sun shade is supported by 4 vertical bamboo poles. Shopkeeper middle aged man, top of head shaven with rest of hair pulled back into a topknot, "5 o'clock shadow". Dark kimono, woven plaid belt. He is sitting on the floor, yoga position, open hands, extended. Items for sale: 1 big woven chicken coop, 2 medium sized chicken coops, 1 big woven basket with one end open for chaffiing, 1 medium sized flat sparrow coop, 3 smaller flat sparrow coops, several carrying baskets, sieves of various gratings, various wooden dustpans, 1 fish basket, 3 hand brushes, scrub brushes. The shopkeeper was probably a basket weaver as well.

Silver coloured guardhouse on raised platform with ladde, 1.9 x 1.6w, leading up to platform , 4.21 x 4.1w, raised off base by twelve pillars, 1.5h, and completely enclosed by a fence , 1.0h, except for a gate, 3.9h x 1.5w, located center front. Rectangular sign at top of gate reads "East of Water customs" translated from Chinese. In front of the guardhouse on the platform is a man, 1.5h, to the left and a flagpole, 7.3h, to the right. Flag, 92.1 x 1.5w, on top of flagpole reads "Dedication..."translated from Chinese. Guardhouse is rectangular, 2.21 x 2.8w x 3.2h, with two windows located on the back wall, 0.4w x 0.3h, and one window, 0.5 x 0.4h, located on each side wall. Front of guardhouse is partially open with a door opening center front, 1.0w x 3.0h, and two windows, 0.9w x 1.81, one on each side of door with one lantern hung at top of each. Below windows are half walls, 0.9w x 1.81h, partially enclosing front. Inside of guardhouse is gold coloured with a gold coloured man to the right and a gold coloured alter located against center back wall with Chinese poem inscribed into wall above alter. Two doors are located on back wall with one each side of alter.

Case is in six segments held together cord. Cord extends through holes on either extremity of rim edge and extends about 6 inches , 15 cm. to netsuke. On one face of case gold ground, mask and fan and a black lacquer bundle. Obverse has gold ground including sashes and black mask and gold and black striped cap. Embossed signature on bottom of inro. Toggle of brass filigree between inro and netsuke acts as a slide to tighten cord. Netsuke is an elderly, stooped man with long beard, wearing a mask. Mask and feet made of ivory but right foot is missing. Kimono gold and orange lacquer with hood of gold and black lacquer stripes. Ivory head loosening.
