- Clinton Bruce Hatfield (1926-2009) was born in Calgary, Alberta. After graduating from Western Canada High School in 1945, Bruce attended the University of Alberta, where he completed a Bachelor of Science degree in 1948, a Master of Science degree in 1951, and a Medical Degree in 1953. Bruce interned at the University of Alberta Hospital before moving to Minneapolis in 1957, where he worked as an Instructor in Medicine at the University of Minnesota Hospital (1958-1959). Bruce moved back to Calgary and opened a private medical practice with his brother, Bob Hatfield. While operating his private practice, Bruce also served on several committees at the Calgary Hospital, including the Intern Committee, Library Committee, Medical Education Committee, Pharmacy Committee (of which he was Chair in 1966), and the Department of Medicine Committee. Bruce was hired as an Assistant Professor at the University of Calgary in 1970, and was Clinical Professor of Medicine when he retired in 1994. Bruce was active as an educator and volunteer in his community, and supported numerous charitable initiatives through the United Church of Canada. He gave public presentations on the topics of Family Life and Sex Education throughout the 1960s and 1970s. Bruce also served as a Trail Doctor for the Trail Riders of the Canadian Rockies on numerous trips between 1963 and 1995. Bruce was also a talented photographer; his photographs were featured in multiple publications including Macleans magazine, Canadian Doctor, and Canadian Medical Association Journal. Bruce was the recipient of many awards including Calgary’s Citizen of the Year (1970), the Premier’s Cup (1983), an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from the University of Calgary (1995) and most recently was chosen as one of Alberta’s 100 Physicians of the Century (2005). Bruce and his brother, Bob, were co-recipients of the Alberta Achievement Award and the Premier's Cup for Excellence in Medicine and the Community. Bruce was married to his wife, Kathleen, for 55 years and the couple raised four daughters together: Linda, Barbara, Sue and Kate.

- Bill de Haan, b.1903, was a hotel worker, labourer and government worker at Banff, Alberta, Canada. De Haan came to Banff in 1944 after working across Canada. From ca.1950 to ca.1968, he worked for Banff National Park at Tunnel Mountain campground, the east park gate and the warden service equipment building. After 1968, de Haan was a volunteer at the government fish hatchery in Banff. An avid photographer, de Haan was a member of the Bow Valley Camera Club. He photographed wildflowers and warden cabins throughout the park.

- Mary Thomson Allan, 1913-1989, was a poet and homemaker at Banff and Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Mary Thomson was born in Banff, where her mother, Jeannie Thomson, ran the Cave and Basin Teahouse. In the 1980s Allan was involved in the Save the Cave and Basin Committee. Allan wrote poetry starting in the 1930s. A number of her poems were published in periodicals and anthologies during the 1950s to 1970s, and a selection, titled "The Inward Trail", was published posthumously in 1992. "Banff Collections and Recollections" was in process when Allan died and editing was continued by her daughter, Jannis Hare.

- Willoughby John Astley, 1859-1948, came to Banff in 1888 and built the Beach House Hotel at Lake Minnewanka. He moved to Lake Louise in 1889. Brother, Charles D'Oyley Astley, 1849-1937, and Lucy Ann Astley continued to operate the hotel until 1907 when they retired to Banff. The hotel was destroyed as part of power development at Lake Minnewanka, ca.1912.

- The Banff Recreational Centre at Banff, Alberta, Canada was built during the 1960s following discussions beginning in 1954 and continuing during the late 1950s. By 1958, an organizational committee had the commitment that a civic centre would be funded jointly by the federal government and the community. The centre was to include curling rinks, a skating rink and a public library. Efforts to obtain the 1968 Winter Olympic Games for Banff and area influenced plans and negotiations. With the aid of a provincial grant, the community raised part of the funding. Federal funding took the form of a loan, which the organizers found difficult to pay back. The final recreational centre was built in several stages. The curling rink opened for curling and limited skating in 1962 and construction of a skating rink began in 1968.

Born in Calgary, Alberta, Duke was educated at Calgary, Banff and the University of Washington in Seattle, USA. After wartime service with the National Film Board of Canada, Ron Duke returned to Banff, where he worked in the photography business for the next thirty years. Here he formed a link in a business lineage of photographers, including George Noble, and was for a time an employee of Noble's corporate successors. After 1958, Duke worked closely with the Banff School of Fine Arts, photographing productions and providing documentary services. After sustaining considerable damage in a fire which destroyed Banff's Mount Royal Hotel in 1967, Ron Duke's business resumed and, in partnership with George Baracos, continued until retirement in 1975.

- Lake O'Hara Lodge was erected by the Canadian Pacific Railway on the shore of Lake O'Hara, Yoho National Park, during the winter of 1925-1926. The following winter, cabins from the CPR camp in a nearby alpine meadow were moved to the lodge site. The lodge catered to hikers and climbers and was managed for over thirty years by Sylvia "Syd" Graves. In 1954, the CPR sold the lodge to Claude Brewster and Austin H. Ford of Brewster-Ford Mountain Lodges. Ford assumed sole ownership in 1958 and sold the lodge in 1975. Since 1976, Lake O'Hara Lodge has been operated by the Laub family of Banff. Currently, other partners include Tim and Leslee Wake.

- George Noble, 1879-1965, was a professional photographer at Banff, Alberta, Canada. Noble was born in Woolwich, England where he apprenticed as a photographer. He came to Banff in 1909 to operate a photographic business for his uncles, George and Bill Fear, who owned a curio business. In 1919, Noble bought the photographic business and, in 1932, acquired the remainder of the Fear Brothers business. He built a new studio and shop, which offered portraiture, photo- finishing and framing services and sold photographic supplies, camera equipment and English china. In addition to portraiture, George Noble and employees, such as photographer Bill Jamieson, produced a wide range of documentary, scenic and commercial views. Noble's shop offered black and white and hand-coloured prints of local events and Rocky Mountain views. George Noble was an active member of the community, serving on both the Banff School Board and the Banff Board of Trade for many years. Upon his retirement in 1957, his business was acquired by a group of investors which included Bill Jamieson, lab-technician and photographer for the Noble business from 1936 to 1957

Most recently it was known as the Canadian Parks Service. Parks Canada is responsible for the administration of mountain parks and, in some cases, townsites within these parks. Until 1990, it administered the town of Banff in Banff National Park. Parks Canada provides a variety of services to visitors and residents pertaining to interpretive and visitor information; trail, resource and wildlife management; fire protection, mountaineering search and rescue and avalanche control; facilities and utilities; townsite services etc.

- Fonds consists of material pertaining to the mountain parks of western Canada.
- I.A. Banff National Park photograph collection, 1903-1965 (predominant 1920s-1950s), ca.1756 prints and negatives. Pertains mainly to Banff townsite and developments and facilities within the park. Included are private and government buildings, dwellings, roads and utilities; resource and wildlife development and management; visitor facilities; lodges, hotels and bungalow camps; warden and fire protection activities; Banff events; Norman Sanson trips and expeditions.
- I.B. Banff National Park warden service photographs, motion pictures and documentation pertaining to wardens, warden activities and cabins, wildlife management; ca.11,000 items. Series includes 2 National Parks Service motion pictures "Hunting without a gun",1930 and Stalking big game", 1930.
- I.C. Lantern slides, 2 sets (accn.3783); includes CPR lecture set, ca.1915, 145 items, and Canadian Rockies lecture set, ca.1920, 54 items, accompanied by lecture notes (stored with textual material M317).
- I.D. Cave and Basin project; copies of mainly snapshot prints acquired by the Cave and Basin restoration and re-development project, 1981-1985, from various individuals, 204 items.
- I.E. Yoho National Park collected photographs, ca.90 photographs : prints, pertain to Yoho National Park landscape, scenery, railway, places and facilities, including Field. Accompanied by 3 letters. Collected from numerous donors, including Kevin Hargadon, T. Lees, Ernie Plant, F. W. Yeats and Millie Adamson.
- I.F. Other, ca.90 items?; prints, transparencies, copy negatives, video recording. Includes: colour transparencies by Jack Holroyd and Bruce Gordon, 1966-1974, re Banff buildings and Protection Mountain mine; photographs of Bankhead, its people and activities used for project Bankhead: The Twenty Year Town by Ben Gadd, 1989; video recording, "Saskatchewan Glacier Clean-up 1994"; VHS cassette copy of National Parks of Canada films produced in the 1930s, including Winter Wonderland, Skiing at Lake Louise, Skiing in Cloudland, Sunshine and Powder Snow, When Winter Comes and "She Climbs to Conquer" by William J. Oliver featuring Georgia Engelhard and Swiss Guide, Ernest Feuz, 1932. CD-ROM includes scanned images from a photograph album "Public Works Projects 1930s Banff National Park" ; Tom Boon's photographs of Mount Royal Hotel fire, 1967, and photograph of C.A. (Alfred) Boon, Union Oil representative at Field and Banff, 1935.
- II. Sound recordings series, 1977-1985, ca.55 sound recordings : audio tape cassettes, audio tape reel. Series consists of: A. Yoho National Park human history study, 1977, 20 cassettes. B. Memoirs of the Warden Service oral history project, 1984, 15 interviews (29 cassettes). Project was conducted by Maryalice Harvey Stewart. Accompanied by report. C. Other, 1980-1985, 3 items, includes rededication ceremonies for Kootenay National Park and for the Park Museum, Banff, also recording pertaining to the Castleguard Caves.
- III. Textual records series, [ca.1887]-1994, ca.250 cm of textual records. Series consists of unpublished reports and management plans; visitor registers, summit registers, cabin and fire lookout registers (some with photographs); register of pack parties, Banff National Park, 1922-1933; maps and plans, including annotated warden service maps; warden records; surveyor notebooks; and transcripts and ephemera pertaining to ceremonies and events. Reports pertain to archaeological sites and research, national parks history, warden service, coal mining in the Bankhead area, predator studies, Cave and Basin, Radium Hot Springs, Ya Ha Tinda Ranch and other sites.
