- Formerly stored together in 2 red binders, with label 'J.F. Garden Transparencies'. Many transparency slides individually labelled prior to acquisition with information such as zoom percentage, page number (referencing where in J.F. Garden's book they were expected to appear), etc. Mostly kept in original 35mm slide pages, but some moved and kept in same order / positions on new slide sheets for labelling and conservation reasons.

- Jimmy Simpson Sr. was a backpacker and outfitter in the Banff / Rocky Mountains region. He built the Num-Ti-Jah Lodge near Bow Lake which him and his wife Williamina ran from 1920 - 1945, and led many hunting and climbing expeditions in the area. Jimmy and Williamina had three children: Jimmy Simpson Jr. (who took over the Lodge in 1945), and daughters Margaret and Mary Simpson who became famous as professional ice skaters, the 'Simpson Sisters' in the late 1930's.

- The Glacier House was originally built in 1886 to remove the burden of heavy dining cars by acting as one of multiple attractive pit stops for CPR passengers to take their meals. The building was expanded multiple times over the following 3 decades to accommodate a growing demand for overnight accommodation and increased railway traffic. Glacier House became less marketable by the 20's as dining service improved onboard trains, and the building closed in 1925. Plans were made for new extensions in 1926, but these were never realized.
- Scope & Content
- File consists of 3 printed posters and 2 pages with blueprints/illustrations. Content pertains to colour advertisements for the Canadian Pacific Railroad (one promoting a new route to Thunder Bay via Winnipeg on the CPR, one advertising 'The Red Letter Day' in 1986 as the CPR opened up a direct line from the Atlantic to Pacific coasts, and one reprint of a poster, date unknown, which originally promoted the CPR in the early 20th century). Also consists of a blueprint design for a proposed extension to the original Glacier House building in the Selkirks (dated 1926) and one print copy of a painted illustration depicting another proposed building design for the Glacier House, date unknown. The blueprint and illustration are possibly more recent copies of older items, and therefore a later date range of [ca. 1940 to ca. 1970] has been added to this file description.

Content pertains to some of Nicholas Morant's earlier work, including some pre-WWII era natural scenes, an image of a lone horseman climbing a rocky hill, one image of a woman herding ducks or geese, one dark image of steam trains, and a blurred/faded image titled "Shipmates", taken in Vancouver.

However, these specific copies have been categorized as 'personal' rather than professional as they were kept by Nicholas Morant for personal use. All prints in this file were originally in frames, and were removed for storage and conservation reasons. Frames for items PA - 20, PA - 22 and PA - 23 were each labelled with the number '4827' on the back. The frame from PA - 23 also had an attached label which read as follows: "Hudson's Bay Company ART DEPARTMENT 4827 Winnipeg"
