- History / Biographical
- Jimmy Simpson Sr. was a backpacker and outfitter in the Banff / Rocky Mountains region. He built the Num-Ti-Jah Lodge near Bow Lake which him and his wife Williamina ran from 1920 - 1945, and led many hunting and climbing expeditions in the area. Jimmy and Williamina had three children: Jimmy Simpson Jr. (who took over the Lodge in 1945), and daughters Margaret and Mary Simpson who became famous as professional ice skaters, the 'Simpson Sisters' in the late 1930's.

Content pertains to various railway scenes: one image of a steam train taken close-up with black tape secured around the edges; one image of a train turning a corner with a mountain in the background, in a gold-painted frame with an engraved border design; and 2 steam-pressed photographs on cork bases (one depicting a b&w photograph taken by Nicholas Morant in 1938 of a train at a set of signal lights with a forest, mountains and lake in the background, and one depicting a colour image of a train travelling through a rocky pass in the early morning (?) with a body of water on its left). Also consists of one b&w portrait of Nicholas Morant as a teenager, dressed formally, with a grey metal frame and raised 'bubble-shaped' glass front.

Frames for items PA - 20, PA - 22 and PA - 23 were each labelled with the number '4827' on the back. - Harry Pollard (1880 - 1968) was a famous photographer in Western Canada, who was notable for his photography of Canadian Indigenous peoples and cultures. From the Provincial Archives of Alberta: "In 1924 the Associated Screen News, a subsidiary of the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR), hired [Harry] Pollard to photograph their global ocean cruises for promotional purposes. It was this job that took him around the world 14 times".
