Coarse, almost canvas-weight, linen table runner, hemmed at ends, but unfinished edges otherwise. Two bands of black embroidery near hems, and the central third of the runner is decorated with an overshot pattern of geometric figures, diamonds and waves with rows of black birds running the width of the runner; the centres of the diamonds have embroidered colours--yellow, pink, etc--in them. At the four corners of the runner are tassels of black and white, and the tassels are bound into ceramic balls, highly decorated with the words "Carpe Diem," Hora Ruit," and "Ex Anno" on them ("seize the day," the hour flees ," and "from the year").
