An oil painting portrait of a man. An elderly man dominates the painting. The man has grey hair and is wearing a black high-necked coat with a large gold cross hanging on a black string around his neck. The background is a yellow-brown. The primary colours used are black, brown, yellow and red. The bottom of the canvas is unfinished/ left blank except for the artist signature in pencil in the blhc and in the brhc, “F. J. Levern, A.M.I - 1945 Cardston, Alberta”. Au verso, in black ink in the top lhc, “# 47”. And left of centre near the bottom is a piece of white paper with black text taped onto the board, see Narrative.
