Scope & Content
File pertains to photographs - mostly prints, also negatives and one glass slide - of the Mount Logan Expedition of 1925. Photographs of the Mount Logan Expedition were mainly produced by H. F. Lambart; also some by A. H. MacCarthy. All images are housed in the original brown envelopes used by the ACC and contain typed notes on the exteriors. Topics include: Groups of the Mt. Logan expedition taken while on voyage ; From the deck of the Alaska, the abandoned "Gastino Gold" mine ; Operating Alaska Gold, a mine reducing ore at less than a dollar a ton, the values not being much a dollar, output 10,000 to 15,000 tons per day ; Group on boat looking over sea Juneau Warf. H.F.L. & Read. do Hall and Read ; Harry Boyden's dog team entering the streets of McCarthy Alaska, Lt. Col. Foster & A.H. MacCarthy ; Part Panorama of McCarthy Alaska from the high ground to the south ; Panorama of the town McCarthy Alaska ; Panorama of the town of McCarthy showing the Kinnicott Glacier and mountains beyond in which the Kennecott Copper mine is situated ; Of the foreground in front of the town, Hubricks Cabin and morains of the Kennecott Gl. beyond. Mules and in one store room of J.B. O'Neill's ; Taken of the group in front of the terminal morains of the Kennecott glacier. The complete picture of the expedition taken with my Ross camera by Hubrick ; The bridge, just finished, crossing the Nazina River from the south side. Left McCarthy 9.45 A.M. [at] Nazina Crossing, 9 8/10 miles, at 1.30 ; Launching on the open bars of the Chitina River on our walk from McCarthy to Hubricks Camp, 88 Mi. Read Sitting on the bars, about opposite the mouth of the Kiagma R. ; Crossing Canon creek above the point on the Chitina bars where it enters that river ; Poor one of group sitting resting on Chitina Bars.

Topics include: Going into our first camp on the bars of the Chitina River being a half days run from "Rush Pound," where we stopped and had lunch on the way in ; Packing up at Brysons, being the old camp ground of the Surveys (Barny Bryson) and from which point a trail leads out of the valley of the Chitina (rising 3000 ft) and leading to the head of the Young Creek. MacCarthy took this trail coming in coming out last summer after the reconnaissance. This is the 4th. camp out from McCarthy the next 16 miles to Short River ; Short river Camp, 5th camp out from McCarthy and only 7 miles out from Hubricks. Mountain in back on other side of Chitina Valley. Crossed Clear Water, Canon and Short river before reaching this camp ; Eastward up the valley of the Chitina Valley Tree islands and the morain covered toe of the Chitina Glacier showing. Scope & Content
File pertains to photographs - mostly prints, also negatives and one glass slide - of the Mount Logan Expedition of 1925. Photographs of the Mount Logan Expedition were mainly produced by H. F. Lambart; also some by A. H. MacCarthy. All images are housed in the original brown envelopes used by the ACC and contain typed notes on the exteriors. Topics include: Rocky cove, resting for lunch an hour before reaching the "Fraser - Baldwin Cache" ; See description preceeding negative ; "Baldwin Fraser Cache" an old survey base camp of 1913 used in conjunction of the trip up the Baldwin on the attack of the shoulder of St. Elias that year and base camp for operations up the Logan Glacier by Dennis Mussell and others. Much old material strewn about. The last timber. Camp left on the morning of the 22nd, of May ; "B. & F Cache" ; "B & F Cache" ; Party starting out to the clear ice straight out in front May 21 to mark trail and to help matters on the morrow when camp is struck ; Striking Camp May 22 ; Sledding on the Logan glacier from the crossing of the boundary line on the Logan Glacier to Turn Camp at the junction of the Ogilvie and Logan Glaciers. Mt. Logan in centre distance very dim ; Resting on the snow covered surface of the Logan Glacier just below the end of the Ogilvie Glacier, showing the point Turn & the western end of Logan in the far distance ; With the sleds on the Logan Glacier, a rest for lunch near the junction of the Logan and Ogilvie Glacier ; Camp on the morains of the Ogilvie Glacier "Turn Cache" Cache left here 7 days for 8 men.
