- File consists of 5 cm of handwritten and typed correspondence, 23 x 34 cm or smaller. File pertains to correspondence between Carl Rungius and the Wardle family, as well as correspondence between Dorothy and Jon Whyte regarding gifting copies to the Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies. File documents, among other things, the death of Louise (Carl's wife) in 1940; exhibiting Carl's work in the National Gallery of Canada, 1942 and 1956; and Carl's visits to the Wardle family home in Ottawa. Records also include a postcard and two Mayfair articles from 1943.
- Notes
- In 1983, Dorothy gifted photocopies of Carl's correspondence with her family. In 2003, the originals were donated as part of Dorothy's estate. The photocopies (accn. 5296) were discarded.
- Carl Rungius was a wildlife and landscape painter who frequented and had a studio in Banff. The Wardle family was good friends with Rungius.

File pertains to personal correspondence between Dorothy and family and friends between 1979 and 1999, primarily 1995-1996. Records include handwritten (and photocopies) letters, greeting cards, one postcard (from Venice), and one newspaper clipping (July 22, 1998, Calgary Herald). File documents old memories and reminiscing about friend and loss of friends, Christmas and the holidays (weather, winter), everyday life, personal and world news, friendly gossip, Dorothy's research, and oldtimers.

- The last folder titled "Special cards from Sheila" was originally separated from the rest of the correspondence and remains in its own folder. Sheila Iris Ritchie was Dorothy's longtime friend and housemate.

Letters are mostly typed, some hand-written. Also includes postcards and a Christmas card.

Topics include day to day life, Catharine travelling to and from Calgary to meet Pete on weekends [sometimes staying in Calgary, sometimes coming back to Banff], news pertaining to the war [D-Day, the liberation of Rome, the death of Mussolini], Pete's work and movements as part of the RCAF, weather, Catharine's involvement with the Red Cross, painting, radio programs [including operas, news, and sports], visits from friends, cleaning and household chores, gardening and yardwork, wildlife, Banff events, events and people in Concord, the Calgary Stampede, going to the movies, train travel between Banff and Calgary, various holidays [both Canadian and American], the filming of a Lassie movie in Banff National Park in September, going to Ottawa when Pete is reassigned to Air Force Headquarters in October [Catharine goes with him], Catharine going to Concord for November and then returning to Ottawa, Pete and Catharine returning to Banff/Calgary to begin Pete's discharge, and Christmas/New Years Eve parties and activities. Also includes postcards.
