Recordings conducted at Num-Ti-Jah Lodge relate to 3 topics: Mountaineers of the Canadian Rockies and include interviews with Chic Scott, Barry Blanchard, and Kevin Doyle; Art and Spirit of Place includes interviews with Lisa Christensen, Neil Swanson, and Craig Richards; Warden Heritage discusses the horseback patrol system, Ya-Ha-Tinda, backcountry district system, and women wardens and silent partners. Recordings conducted at Hawks Nest Ranch consist of Andy Russell stories. The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) is Canada's national public broadcasting company. It is based in Toronto, Ontario.
Scope & Content
Fonds consists of sound and video recordings, work tapes and copies of radio broadcasts and soundtracks for CBC radio and television programmes.
I. Largest portion includes work tapes and finished radio programme for "Nashen Esen, Legend of the Rockies," re Jimmy Simpson, 1969, produced by Fred Diehl, 22 reels. Includes numerous interviews, mainly by Fred Diehl. Accompanied by manuscript continuities, notes and tape summaries.
II. Other recordings include: Mountain Man, 1951, re Jack Walker Brewster; Sing the Rundle Round - Summer in Banff, 1969; recording pertaining to Edward Feuz and family, 1967; opening of Peter Whyte Foundation building, 1968; The Brewster Story, film and soundtrack, 1967; Communities West programme on Banff, 1971; damming of Canada's Rivers, 1973; the Brewsters of Banff, 1969; re Chief Tom Kaquitts, 1973; re Banff School of Fine Arts, ca.1974; CBR (Calgary) Friday Evening Arts Edition, 1970; Morningside, 1983, re John Murray Gibbon; video re Edward Feuz for This Land, by Bruno Engler, 1971.

Fonds consists of Earle Birney textual records, 1896-1971, n.d.; recordings of Birney reading his works, 1967, 1982; and portraits of Birney, ca.1967. Textual records are excerpts from the Earle Birney papers pertaining to Banff and the Canadian Rockies; including correspondence, 1918-1924, biographical material, 1971, drafts of poems, 1941-1952, printed material, 1948-1970, and Birney family correspondence, 1896-1917.
Poems include: "Ballad of Kootenay Brown", "Biography", "Bushed", "Conrad Kain", "Holiday in the Foothills", "Leaving Yellowstone", "Oldster". Correspondence is mainly from Charles Brown to Birney.
