- James Geddes (1836-1908) and Jessie Geddes (née Dick Wares, 1836-1920) were both born in Wick, Caithness, Scotland and were married in Edinburgh in 1865. James and Jessie were the parents of Malcolm Daniel Geddes, as well as his siblings Daniel, James William and Jessie Esther. Following the family's move to Canada in 1877, James Geddes worked as a farmer and lay preacher in Ontario.
