- Maryalice Harvey Stewart, 1923-2001, was Director of the Archives of the Canadian Rockies (now Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies) at Banff, Alberta, Canada from 1965 to 1976. She continued to do historical projects and was known for her knowledge of Banff and Rocky Mountain history.

- Fonds consists of materials collected by, and pertaining to, Maryalice Harvey Stewart. Content includes daybooks, notebooks, correspondence and various notes collected by Maryalice during her time working as Director of the Archives of the Canadian Rockies (now the Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies Archives and Special Collections); research materials pertaining to the town of Banff, the Brewster family and other local subjects; personal interest materials, including cassette recordings of documentaries and lectures; personal materials, including correspondence, photographs, Maryalice's birth certificate, certifications and awards, and sheet music; and other related materials. - In the 1920's, Banff experienced a steady increase in tourism. This was based on a number of factors, including the introduction of the automobile in the park, the completion of the Banff-Windermere Highway and other roadways, additional accommodation (e.g. campgrounds), and the Canadian Pacific Railway's "Canadian Pacific Rockies" tourist campaign. Local prominent townspeople began to seek more say in the way their town was governed, and thus created organizations like the Banff Advisory Council and the Rocky Mountain Park Liberal Association. Issues around park boundaries, campgrounds, and park services employees' priorities were particularly important to Banff locals during this decade.

- Item consists of a bound green record book, H20 x W13 cm. The record book, with "Records" printed on the cover, is comprised of numbered lined pages and contains meeting minutes and membership lists for the Rocky Mountain Park Liberal Association from March 13th, 1924 to circa 1930. Minutes pertain to different types of meetings: general and executive. Contents pertain to various topics, including the creation of the Association and membership, provincial Liberal candidates, electing members for the Association's executive committee, concerns about who was being appointed to park services, employment in the park, advocating for the dismissal of Jack Warren (a park warden), and park boundary issues.

- Created by the Rocky Mountain Park Liberal Association.
- Dave White originally had the lease for 222 Otter Street and transferred the lease to Sam Armstrong in 1915, who had it until 1927. Sam Armstrong was a member of the Rocky Mountain Liberal Association.
- Membership included representatives from Banff, Canmore, Exshaw, and East End. Meetings were generally held at the Mount Royal Hotel in Banff and the Canmore Hotel.
- Most of the minutes were taken by W. Alexander and James Smith, who both acted as secretary at some point in the Association's history.

- A typed text report on Banff 14 pages long - the text has been heavily edited throughout with white-out and additional pieces of paper glued overtop of written text. Accompanying the text are 26 images and 4 maps, two of which are hand-drawn as overlays of the others. The report follows the story of a family named West from Calgary visiting their cousins, the Cunninghams, in Banff sometime in the late 1960s, which is also when it is believed the report was written. It is unclear if the families are real or fictitious. The report describes in some detail the history of the area, features around town, environment, commerce, wildlife, and community and ends with a series of questions, presumably posed to students. The accompanying prints relate to the topics in the report and are numbered to correspond correctly - some prints have typed text notations attached either to the back or the front along an edge. Two prints show the town of Banff from the top of Tunnel Mountain and a Mylar sheet has been laid overtop of each with landmarks, streets, and buildings noted in blue ink. Contents of the images include the afore mentioned aerial views, the Administration Building grounds, shops along Banff Avenue (which clearly show shop-front windows, signs, cars, and peoples' outfits), the original Whyte Museum building, the Banff High School, the Cave & Basin cave and pools, various wildlife, and Banff Indian Days.
