Includes group shots of hockey teams in various years, some featuring Jack MacAulay as coach; individual portraits and posed photographs, including Herb MacAulay ca. 1965; print depicting Herb Ollis feeding a bear in 1938; and 2 newspaper clippings from 1979 pertaining to Banff's hockey team. - J. Monroe "Roy" Thorington, 1894-1989, was an ophthalmologist, mountaineer and mountain historian at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Thorington was a pre-eminent climber and explorer in the Canadian Rockies starting in 1922. He studied the Freshfield and Lyell Glaciers for 22 years and explored and mapped the Purcell Range, British Columbia. Thorington wrote approximately 300 publications on mountaineering, mountain history and the Canadian Rockies. He was active in numerous organizations, particularly the American Alpine Club.

- Fonds consists of copies of textual records from the Thorington Archives at Princeton University and photographs in both original and copy form.
- Textual records include: I. Thompson-Little Collection and supplement 1895- 1907; letters chiefly addressed to Charles Sproule Thompson collected by George T. Little, Appalachian Mountain Club and supplemented by material mainly from the estate of Charles E. Fay. II. American Alpine Club, 1903- 1967; correspondence with American Alpine Club members elected to 1918. III. Alps and Canada mountaineering correspondence. IV. Guide books and writings; pertains to writings on the Canadian Rockies and Conrad Kain. V. Dr. W. S. Ladd and Allen Carpe papers 1908-1935.

- Sydney R. Vallance, 1891-1979, was a lawyer and mountaineer at Calgary and Banff, Alberta, Canada. Vallance began his law career in 1920, establishing a private practice in 1929. He joined the Alpine Club of Canada in 1932 and held executive positions at both the section and national levels, including a term as President from 1947 to 1950. He made over one hundred ascents during his climbing career. Vallance was also a member of the Skyline Trail Hikers of the Canadian Rockies and was an avid amateur photographer

- Fonds consists of personal papers, photographs and sound recordings of Sydney Vallance pertaining mainly to the Canadian Rockies and Vallance's mountaineering career.
- Textual records include manuscripts pertaining to personalities of the Canadian Rockies and to slide presentations on the Banff, Lake Louise, Lake O'Hara and Jasper regions; correspondence files arising from Vallance's positions as Vice President and Hut Committee Chairman of the Alpine Club of Canada, 1945-1946, and as member and President of the Lake O'Hara Trails Club, 1958-1962; miscellaneous correspondence on mountaineering, glacier study, expeditions, packers and outfitters, naming of five peaks in the Mt. Lyell massive after Swiss guides, 1920-1972. Correspondents include Sydney Baker, Eric Brooks, F. V. Longstaff, J. Monroe Thorington and Don Munday. Includes holograph map of the Great Divide region.
