Lt. Col. Cyril G. Childe, d.1973, of Banff, Alberta, Canada was in the 1st Division Cyclists during the First World War and was active in militia and Legion activities in peace time.

Fonds consists of family and military photographs, ca.1890-ca.1935, most of which are unidentified; military papers, 1914-1919; poems and expressions of appreciation to Major Child [sic] Late Chief Armor Plate Department , Ministry of Munitions of War, Glasgow and London; Speech to "Girls and Boys of Banff", n.d. re history of Union Jack and explanatory flag diagram; letter dated Dec.4, 1941 from J. D. Hansen to Sylvia Childe re rental property. Also includes some publications.

History / Biographical
Dorothy V. Whyte, b.1893, was a Canadian Pacific Railway employee at Banff, Alberta, Canada, until 1939. Whyte came to Banff from the Yukon and was first employed by the Banff Springs Hotel in 1920. She worked as an Information Clerk and later Special Representative for the Canadian Pacific Railway until 1939. She worked in Vancouver until 1963, returning to Banff where she became involved in local affairs before returning to West Vancouver in 1969. While living at the coast, Whyte frequently visited the Mount Assiniboine area and maintained close ties with Banff. Dorothy Whyte is not related to the White/Whyte family of Banff.

Fonds consists of: I. Personal papers, business papers and ephemera mainly concerning Whyte's involvement in publicity and hospitality with Canadian Pacific, primarily with the Banff Springs Hotel. II. Correspondence and writings resulting from her friendship with Peter and Catharine Whyte and her interest in Banff affairs; correspondents include Catharine Robb Whyte, Jon Whyte and Erling Strom. III. Copy of last will and testament of Catharine Robb Whyte, 1977, and probate, 1980, of which Dorothy Whyte was a beneficiary. IV. Photographs pertaining to Dorothy Whyte, friends and associates; activities, particularly hiking and trail riding in Rocky Mountains; Banff Springs Hotel and Chateau Lake Louise, events and staff; Banff people and events. Most views ca.1925.
