File consists of records relating to Eleanor Luxton's imports of cultural property and include correspondence with the National Gallery, Ottawa, Ontario and Canada Customs regarding a Charles Russell bronze "Nature's People"; correspondence with Canada House, Banff, Alberta regarding purchases; correspondence with other galleries in Banff, Alberta and Montana Historical Society; correspondence regarding certificates of authenticity with the Franklin Mint and the Wellings Mint Limited. Also included is a safety deposit box key in an envelope. Written on the envelope is: "Mrs. A.O. Wheeler, Canadian Bank of Commerce" and a safety deposit box number. Photographs are of Charles Russell's bronze sculptures - "Sitting Bear", "Glacier Park Grizzly" and "Red Bird", a bronze sculpture of Russell's own horse.

History / Biographical
The Arctic Institute of North America was founded in 1945 as a research and educational non-profit organization sponsored by the Canadian Federal Government. The institute was incorporated into the University of Calgary in 1976. The Arctic Institute focuses its research on the "physical, environmental and social conditions" of the Arctic regions, and makes this research accessible through an online database and publications through the organization's academic journal, "ARCTIC".
