File consists of 1 print of a sketch of a buffalo that was used for copper and bronze badge. These buffalo badges were used to mark paid entrance to the National Parks from 1925-1938 and were fixed to a car's front radiator with wire. This sketch shows a standing buffalo, a design used from 1932-1938. Also includes the envelope the print was stored in. Written on the front are details of what the sketch is of and that it was give to Jim Sime from Fergus Lothian in 1977.

Scope & Content
File consists of documents pertaining to the "Buffalo Medicine" charm manufactured and distributed by the Parks publicity bureau from 1920-1922. The charm was a small metal piece housed in a paper pouch and accompanied by a leaflett that related the legend of the charm. The charms were made in batches of 10,000 and were popular collectors items. The first batch made in 1920 were made of alluminum, but the design was changed for the second and final issue. Includes a typed letter to Jim Sime from Fergus Lothian regarding the charm and material related to early Park fire prevention ; the leaflet that accompanied a "Buffalo Medicine" charm ; a typed text page meant to accompany the charm while on display.
Notes
The charm and its original pouch are now housed in Heritage Collection.

History / Biographical
William Fergus "Ferg" Lothian (1900-1993) worked for Parks Canada in Ottawa as Assistant Chief of the National Parks Service for 51 years before retiring in 1968. Following his retirement he accepted a contract from the Director of the National Parks Service to compile a difinitive history of national park development in Canada, which he completed in 1981.
Scope & Content
File consists of 1 photographic portrait of Fergus Lothian taken by a member of his staff in July 1978 in Ottawa. The photo is signed by Lothian and dated in the bottom right corner. Also includes a handwritten note by Jim Sime outlining details of the photograph; Lothian gave the photo to Sime at the National and Provincial Party Association gathering on 11 October 1978. Lothian was being presented the J.B. Harkin Medal in recoginition of his service and contribution to national park administration.
Notes
The photograph and note were accompanied by an envelope that had the same details as the note written on the front; the envelope was discarded.
