Includes images of the interior and exterior of the cruise ship, as well as cruise staff members and on-board entertainment; landscapes, monuments and buildings; surfing; historic sites; dockyard scenes with unidentified workers; local individuals and families; and fishing and harvesting. Album also includes small tissue-like paper sheet with hand-drawn diagram of mechanical parts and measurements with annotations [possibly belonging to Eleanor Luxton, n.d.]

Most photographs are annotated on the lower front in white text with contextual information - location, name of landmark, etc.

File pertains to 26 hand-written letters written by Catharine Robb Whyte to her mother, Edith Morse Robb from January 1 to March 13, 1934. Topics include New Yea's Eve celebrations, going to the movies, spending time on the beach, painting/sketching [including experimenting with watercolour paints and different kinds of paper], people and events in Concord and in Banff, descriptions of Honolulu and the local people [including dress, food, and boats], weather, watching US Navy ships and planes come in and out of Pearl Harbor, listening to the radio [mostly news and operas], sketching people on the beach, the other guests at their hotel, going out for meals, celebrating Pete's birthday, descriptions of meals, planning their trip to Japan, painting portraits of locals, making canvases and easels, developing films [photographs], the Moores and the Rungiuses arriving in early February, shopping, watching various military Reviews and parades [usually as part of ceremonies for visiting dignitaries], descriptions of various ships in port, flowers and trees, birds, showing some of their work at the Art Academy at the invitation of the Honolulu Art Association in early March, going to cocktail parties and dances with the Moores and Rungiuses, booking their passage to Japan with Canadian Pacific, and leaving Hawaii in mid-March.

Please note: language pertaining to Indigenous Peoples used throughout is outdated and may be offensive. Few letters written on hotel/ship letterhead. Some letters contain small sketches of hotel/motel layouts, road layouts, and room/ship cabin details. Most letters are numbered in red pencil crayon in the upper margin of the first page as part of an unknown project. Some letters are marked with a small x in pencil, indicating where Jon Whyte made notes for use in his project "Catharine Robb Whyte, Peter Whyte: Commemorative Portfolio," originally published in 1981. 93 - 05 page 5 contains a sketch of the Moana Hotel's placement and general laylout in relation to the beach.

File pertains to 35 letters written by Catharine Robb Whyte to her mother, Edith Morse Robb from November 15, 1950 to February 19, 1951. Topics include driving down through Idaho, Washington and Oregon to catch a boat from Los Angeles to Hawaii, time spent in San Francisco visiting with Belmore Browne, happenings on the ship [the SS President Wilson of American President Lines], arriving and first staying in Waikiki, moving to Waimanalo, visiting with friends, weather, Christmas cards, holiday activities, tropical food and flowers, radio programs, travelling around to different parts of Oahu, travel back to San Francisco by ship [the SS President Wilson again], driving from San Francisco to Golden, and boarding the train in Golden to Banff [the Jeep was shipped via train as well]. Also includes brochures for Hawaii hotels and a map of the island of Oahu, Hawaii.
