Description
Women's moccasin, beaded, blue ground red/white geometric design, main design of stepped diamonds outlined in white on blue background, brown buckskin, Rocky Mountain style, completely beaded except top, red/white sole border band, large flap, tongue, long laces. As per Al McClelland: Stoney moccasins, canvas backed leggings and mountain sheep uppers. The large size white heart beads are typical of post World War I era. While typically Cree style the combination of colours and arrows in the pattern are more typical of Stoney beadwork of this period. With a great deal of wear on the moccasins it is quite evident that they were danced in a geat deal. These moccasins and leggings should be related to an equally fine dress. The dress yoke in the Moore House on the upper balcony bears close resemblance to the set.
