Description
Japanese notions shop, fully furnished, wooden base 3.7 high forms floor of shop. Display area centre of floor 13.0x13.6x18.7, removable wooden wings, 12.0x3.0x0.5, on each side of the display shelf. Left removable wing has a replaced hook. Brass wire attached to top and sides of display shelf modelled after the bamboo poles on which skeins of cotton threads, jute rope, flax thread are hung. Teenage shopkeeper girl sitting on her feet, her hands on her lap with right hand shaped to hold something. Items for sale: 14 bales of cotton battings from Oume region manufactured, or distributed, by Yamato-ya (House of Yamato), all specially high quality. On the right wing: silver Obi-jime (Obijime a decorative and very tightly woven tough and thick silk tie belt), tightly tied around the waist, over Obi, (decorative sash). 3 pairs of silk tying strings for Haoli, windbreaker. On the left wing Haoli tying strings (3) and Obi-jime.

Japanese lantern shop, fully furnished, wooden base which serves as floor, 33.3x21.3x3.5, wood is .7 thick, mat on floor is tatami , woven grass. Sitting on the mat in front of her wares is a very elegant lady, wearing a silk kimono, grey pattern lined with red and red belt, face and hands ceramic. Metal rails 21.3x31.0x10.0 hold the wares. Items for sale: all kinds of lanterns, lighted with a candle inside. 2 largest, longest, for shinto shrine, note a metal eye on the bottom for the purpose of securing the lantern with a rope and a rock on the ground. 2 medium long lanterns for fox god, of shintoism. 4 small size long lanterns with a removable handle stand, which forms tripod with 2 other metal legs on the bottom of this kind of lantern. 2 for 2 different suhi-shops, 1 for festival of harvest, 1 for Yoshiwara brothel, this kind can be free standing as well as being carried around as well as being hooked at the building, etc. 2 large oblong lanterns with, great Japan Banzai, patriotic writing. 1 big red lantern dedicated both shintois buddhism , simultaneously . Items for sale (continued) 1 medium sized lantern, similar to previous ones, dedicated to both shintois buddhism, simultaneously. 4 medium sized round red and white striped. 4 small black and white oblongs with 4 different house emblems with a removable handle which forms the third of a tripod together with 2 other metal legs on the bottom of this type of lantern. 5 pear shaped with a different flower on each lantern with an elaborate rose coloured tassel. 2 small round ones with a toy dog add a rattler, other with cherry blossom petals. 5 extra small round red, 3 extra small round with a lid on top with different kinds of house emblems, with a klong handle, with 2 metal hooks which are looking away from each other on the bottom. 4 small red round with cherry blossom petals with a stickhandle, for children to carry around during the summer festival .

Description
Japanese insect vendor, fully furnished. Platform, 23.0x9.8x5.0, is black painted wood covered with black grit paper. Checkerboard patterned paper covers frame shop, 21.5x22.0x7.0. Hinged panels on both sides, 15.3x3.3. Front facing panels have wooden lattice work, same paper pattern. Shopkeeper, teenage girl, is sitting in centre of shop. She has a patterned kimono with red in pattern and lining, wearing blue thongs, hair piled high with a red tie dyed scarf, china face. Open mouth show white teeth, china hands. Many and varied insect boxes displayed, very finely crafted, all secured to framework. The black boxes are for displaying fireflies. The shopkeeper is also secured to the display.
