Description
Rectangular writing tray with four corner claw feet. Tray contains two long indented pen rests on either side of centre portion which has two attached cylindrical rings to hold inkwells. These rings on either side of a large central ring which holds a removable, circular handled, single candleholder. Candleholder has bracket on handle which holds a cone shaped snuffer which is attached to stem of candleholder with chain. Base of candle holder scratched "109", "Mkafm"? and "R R " as well as stamped, eight arrow cross hatched hallmark. Candleholder and tray borders elaborate cord design with leaf and scroll accents. Only identification stamp is "A" inside candleholder.

Description
Ink set contained in a round top, trunk shaped container which sits on four, corner ball feet. Rounded top has round knob and is hinged for opening. Either end of container has relief lion's head with rotating ring through jaw. Bottom of box scratched "#251 MT ac", also stamped lion profile hallmark and "7". Interior of box is two chambers divided by flat sterling bar. In either chamber sits a bevelled, square sided glass. Each container has circular, ridged top with 1.0 cm. hole in centre. One of sterling tops is anchored permanently to glass well and has white powder residue inside it, other top is removable and is presumably for holding ink. Card inside box says "Old Sheffield Ink Box made in London. Circa 1810-1815."

Covers hinged together with three knotted thread hinges, with thread loop securing over head of a straight pin to close. Covers stitched around stiff cardboard.

In a large, sturdy black, paper covered, wooden box and lid with brass slits at bottom of base, a collection of eighteen pincushions. 3 round(a) blue silk (10.0 x 5.5) short, puffy cylinder with design of five small hearts stitched around top, and diagonal lines around side, quilted with yellow thread, stuck with straight pins.( b) plaid (10.0 x 3.5) red and green tartan with wide blue and narrower yellow and white cross stripes. Puffy, wedge like sections formed with tight black stitching, dark blue grosgrain bow at top. (c) red satiny brocade (10.0 x 3.8) dark red, with green thread laced across top like wheel spokes. Holding on around sides are eight tiny silk clad figures with white painted faces peering upward, and black braided top knots. Base of red and white striped cotton. Description
A sewing basket or bag hand sewn from yellow print cotton. (a) the bag is print of floral bouquets on the outside, plain yellow cotton inside, a disc of card provides a bottom for the basket, and in the middle of it is an attached pin cushion corded to the card. Inside the bag are pockets which lap from the walls of the bag into which tape, buttons, etc., could be placed. Double draw strings can gather the bag to close it. (b) is a needle book of card covered with the same yellow floral print cotton and lined with plain yellow cotton, a cord holding in a piece of flannel into which needles can be placed. Never used, but there are a few pins in the built in pincushion, and a length of white satin ribbon in one of the pockets.

Small wooden Japanese box of curly grained wood with drawers in front and trap door on top. Highly varnished finish over golden brown wood with watery grain similar to bird's eye maple on front of drawers. Large drawer across bottom, slightly shallower drawer in middle, and half drawer above on right side. Bottom drawer has loop pull, others have small button pulls with backing plates in shape of five cherry blossoms petalled flowers. All hardware enamelled reddish brown over the metal. Top hinged at middle and left hand side opens and folds flat over other side with square frame at middle holding red fabric pin cushion, shallow well inside. Interior of drawers and well painted with black lacquer enamel, wood of drawers splitting and shrinking leaving cracks and gaps, especially at joints, fronts of drawers warped and bowed. Marks: carved into base, a symbol which looks like unconnected "K" (SU)?
