- A shield-shaped felt sew-on hockey patch; the top of the patch is blue (faded to a purple) with a border of red felt sewn around the outer edges of the patch; the backing on the patch is white felt. The word “Banff” ( 2.0cm high) is done in individual script lettering in white felt and each letter is sewn on with white silk thread. Underneath, in stencilled, individual, white felt lettering sewn on with white silk thread are the letters “J.H.C” (2.80x2.0w cm). At the bottom of the patch to the viewer’s left is the number “42” (1.0x1.0) is embroidered with white silk thread, followed by two crossed hockey sticks with a puck between them, all sewn on individually with white silk thread, followed by (to the viewer’s right) the number “43” (1.0x1.0) embroidered with white silk thread.

On top of the ring of felt the word “BANFF” is sewn on in individual white felt letters; on the bottom of the ring the numbers “43 - 45” is sewn on in individual white felt numbers. In the middle of the the red patch are two blue felt crossed hockey sticks with a blue felt hockey puck underneath. On the viewer’s left of the crossed hockey sticks is a blue felt “J” is sewn on and on the viewer’s right is a blue felt “C”.
