Description
A pair of wooden blocks with metal surfaces that have been engraved with a partial design that can be seen in WyP.04.37 and full engraving on 104.43.0007: Peter is standing beside Catharine who is sitting on a stump. Peter appears to be holding Catharine’s hand. They are watching a group of animals sitting at easels painting landscapes on canvas. In the background there is a mountain range. On A) the tops of animal heads and easels are visible, as well as the hat of the standing man. on B) the bodies of 5 seated animals as well as the hats of the two figures are the only parts remaining. Both have ink residue. Each block is made from two pieces of wood that have been joined together.

A wooden block with a metal plate that has been engraved (in reverse) with the design for Peter and Catharine Whyte’s 1956 Christmas card: a group of vehicles in a convoy travelling down a road to the mountains. The last car is filled with a group of animals, and beside this vehicle there is a post with a bunch of signs pointing to directions to different cities. These signs say “HOMER, FAIRBANKS, EDMONTON, DAWSON CITY, BANFF, ANCHORAGE, VALDEZ, WHITEHORSE, FORT ST. JOHN, AND SEWARD”. The licence plate on the last vehicle says “B.N.P. 1956 CANADA”. While below the drawing it says “SEASONS GREETINGS CATHARINE AND PETER”.
