The wood is dark reddish brown, shaped for grasping and stamping. On the opposite end there are two grooves that permit a piece of plastic to fit in and lock in the grooves. The clear plastic keeps the piece of paper with “P. WHYTE” in place and makes it easy to read and identify the stamp.
