History / Biographical: Maryalice Harvey Stewart, 1923-2001, was Director of the Archives of the Canadian Rockies (now Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies) at Banff, Alberta, Canada from 1965 to 1976. She continued to do historical projects and was known for her knowledge of Banff and Rocky Mountain history.

Scope & Content: Fonds consists of materials collected by, and pertaining to, Maryalice Harvey Stewart. Content includes daybooks, notebooks, correspondence and various notes collected by Maryalice during her time working as Director of the Archives of the Canadian Rockies (now the Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies Archives and Special Collections); research materials pertaining to the town of Banff, the Brewster family and other local subjects; personal interest materials, including cassette recordings of documentaries and lectures; personal materials, including correspondence, photographs, Maryalice's birth certificate, certifications and awards, and sheet music; and other related materials. History / Biographical: "Ski Lift to Death" [alternately known as "Snowblind"], 1987, directed by William Wiard and starring Deborah Raffin, Charles Frank, Howard Duff, Clu Gulager, and Suzy Chaffee. Romance and intrigue at a Rocky Mountain ski resort ends with two derailed ski-lift gondolas hanging from a cable. An ex-gangster hangs in one of the gondolas while an assassin maneuvers to bump him off. Location filming in Banff National Park, including Sunshine and Lake Louise ski areas, the Sulphur Mountain Gondola, Banff Springs Hotel, and various downtown locations. Rumour has it that none of Banff’s ski areas wanted their lifts associated with a film called Ski Lift to Death, but the Sulphur Mountain Gondola was willing to use their gondola cars for the derailing stunt. Many Banff locals appear in nightclub and ski hill scenes.
