Description
A very delicate Japanese teapot and five matching cups of fine white porcelain with orange and gold trim. Very detailed overglaze decoration of Japanese warriors dressed in ornate armour and kneeling beneath a tree. (a) teapot, very small, squat, round pot with thinly thrown spool handle attached near the top of the pot, and short tapering spout at right angles to it and ninety degrees around pot. Flat lid with steam hole sits inside small lip of pot glazed orange with gold floral decoration. Crescent shape on lid glazed similarly with orange flower painted in white part remaining. (b) five teacups, small deep bowls with trimmed feet and slightly flared rims. Inside completely white and undecorated, rim trimmed with orange band at lip and gold dots. Marks: on bottom of cups is a Japanese signature brushed in orange glaze.

Description
Bamboo musical instrument made of two hollow bamboo tubes suspended on split bamboo frame of three thin upright sticks supported in holes cut in hollow bamboo tube at bottom. Two flat pieces of bamboo are secured crosswise into the split uprights and each holds one of the bamboo tubes which are hung on them by a semicircular hole which fits into a notch on the crosspiece, half of the upper part of these tubes have been cut away lengthwise and at their bottom two small legs have been carved which fit into wells cut in the bamboo tube at the bottom. When the instrument is held by one of the uprights and shaken, the hollow bamboo clappers strike the sides of this well and make a musical sound.

Description
Round, wooden hoop covered with a sheath of chrome plated brass. Translucent skin head stretched across shell and tacked all around top edge of side at approximately 3.0 cm intervals. Six oval slits spaced around side of shell each hold two tin jingles on a wire rod. Three jingles original with fluted edges, one a plain round replacement, the other two homemade cutout tin circles. Smaller, rounder, thumb hole on side of shell is wrapped at the bottom with cord to prevent hand from being cut by brass sheathing. Marks: on under side of head written in pencil, "Some day I'll wander back again Last Song Good Ole Jeff Merials Leaf & Limb ? Come ye Darkies All", and "J.D. Curren M(unfinished)", and along side, "Mrs. Dave White".

(a) 14.3 x .9 x 3.9 - bone, slightly spatulate shape with rounded ends. (b) 17.2 x 1.0 x 3.0 - bone, long, and thick at one end, rounded ends. (c) 18.3 x 1.0 x 3.0 - bone, long, rounded at ends, with slight twist in bone.
