- Two wooden fifes with brass ends. Long tubes of dark, hard wood with a line of six fingering holes at one end, and a separate, larger blow hole at the other. Fife tapers from the blow hole towards each end, a wide brass ring caps each end. (a) longer, wide brass rings incised around with two double lines Marks: half of red bordered paper sticker. "--M's --fe" (E.S.M's fife?) Note: ring at tail loose. (b) shorter, 36.6 cm, smaller brass rings each incised with two rings of tiny lines.
