- History / Biographical
- Temple View Camp was established by Emil and Amanda (Ada) Skarin on the banks of the Bow River, close to the confluence of the Bow and Pipestone Rivers. It was later sold to the Gourlay family of Banff, who changed its name to Motel Lake Louise. It was later expropriated by Parks Canada. Emil Skarin worked for a road construction company which completed the highway from Calgary through Lake Louise to the B.C. border (currently Highway 1A). Skarin was reportedly responsible for dividing this highway in order to preserve a grand tree. While Emil Skarin worked throughout the summers in road construction, Ada Skarin managed the Temple View Camp.
