Description
A Chinese gold scale (a) and case (b). a) A scale with a long thin rod made from gibbon bone with a scale marked along its length with small dots. A brass pan is suspended by a black thread through a hole at the blunt end of the rod. There is a single thread at 9.5 cm from the blunt end that acts as a fulcrum to hang the rod. b) A violin-shaped case made of carved bamboo that is hinged with brass at the end of the stem. A braided rattan ring slides down the stem to secure it when closed. There are carved areas insidethe case to fit the pan, rod and weight. The case is marked with a symbol carved into the outside. There is also a red and white paper inside with Chinese characters and “Ex.B Harry Sam” handwritten.

A board to prevent drafts from the fireplace that is cut from one quarter inch plywood and stained brown. The top is curved to match the shape of the fireplace. There are two shaped front supports of three quarter inch plywood at each side of the bottom edge. The board is lined on the reverse with strips of pink fibre-glass insulation at the top edge and both side edges. Two rectangular holes cut at the bottom allow the andirons to pass through.

Description
A round, double-faced, sterling silver-framed hand mirror with a silver ring for a handle. There is a tube-like silver frame around the mirrors which reflect a normal image on one side and a magnified image on the reverse. The frame is seamed at each side and joined by small rivet-pins, 6.5 cm diameter, and a solid ring handle is firmly soldered to the bottom of the frame. The frame is monogrammed "MKM" (Maria K. Moore) at the top of one side. Cardboard fibre ring spacers were placed between the mirrors to hold them firmly in place against the frame. These spacers are broken.

A hide scraper made from the leg bone of an elk, and carved to form a long handle which fits the hand well. There is a short right angle carved at the bottom and split horizontally to hold a rounded steel blade that is sharpened at the edge. The bone is notched and tied firmly with a strip of cotton fabric to secure the blade. A shiny metal hook is attached at the top along with a short loop of thong for hanging.

Description
A tall oak grandfather's clock resting on four clawed feet. The bottom is a panelled hollow box. The middle section of the clock has a hinged bevelled glass door that is rounded at the top with carved leaf decoration and carved leaves at each side near the top. The middle door exposes three heavy brass cylindrical balance weights and a large pendulum. There is a glass door at top that reveals the face in a heavy case with a pointed wooden roof and carved twisted columns at the corners and supporting a railing around the very top. Both doors have locks and keys. The clock has a round etched metal face with brass numerals and a brass plate in the middle with finely wrought black iron hands. There are dials to measure seconds and regulate the chime, and an arch over the face contains two hemispheres, and a painted ship and moon on a moving wheel beneath.
