- Green fabric-covered hard-sided travel case with leather corner caps on the lid, leather carry handles on both short sides and on the back [broken], and three leather straps attached to the short sides and the front that overlap over a metal loop on the lid. A metal frame is fixed to the front of the lid for the display of a shipping label, various stickers and shipping labels throughout the lid, and a paper Sunshine Village transportation tag hangs from the right-hand handle by a string. The interior is lined with canvas and has blue and white canvas straps attached to the long sides as well as green fabric flaps attached to the short sides and front. - Description
- Long and thin silver metal travel case with 2.5 rubber feet on the bottom [one is completely missing, one only partially], two metal clasps holding the hinged lid closed, and a black hard plastic handle on the lid. Several long strips of adhesive tape - mostly silver duct tape - throughout the exterior, often obscuring paper labels and something written on the front in marker. The interior of the case is lined with pieces of yellow foam that have been glued in place. Housed inside the case is a black metal 300mm Century Precision Optics Tele-Athenar lens - these lenses were specifically designed for profession motion picture, video, and still photography and was most likely used by Eddie Hunter on Head Hunter Films projects.

- Item consists of one 16 mm motion picture pertaining to footage of and from the Sulphur Mountain Gondola - including shots from inside the cars, shots of people getting in and out of the cars, and views of the Banff townsite - to be used for an unknown National Film Board project. The reel also contains footage of the installation of a power line between Banff and Lake Louise - mostly consisting of shots from the ground of the helicopter picking up, flying with, and placing the poles. Most of this footage is underexposed. The original label on the case reads "Banff Gondola Lift 1960, Footage - 110ft B&W NFB, Camera Bruno Ungler NFB, Stringing Power Line, Banff-Lake Louise by Helicopter, Cam. B. Engler."

- History / Biographical
- Iva (Stewart) Smith , 1894-1975, and Leonard James Smith, 1890-1969, were business operators at Banff, Alberta, Canada. Iva Stewart and her mother Zaidee Stewart, 1875-1962, came to Banff as visitors in 1913 and decided to stay. Iva operated the Canadian Pacific Railway station news stand from 1914 until ca.1924. She married Len Smith in 1922.
- After working at various other CPR facilities, including Lake Louise Chalet in the 1920s and Wapta Bungalow Camp, ca.1931, Iva Smith became manager of Becker's Bungalows on Tunnel Mountain in Banff, ca.1935 Len Smith worked at the Bow River boat house and was Captain of the "Lake Minnewanka" for over thirty years. He was also an ice-maker at Edmonton, Calgary, Lethbridge and Banff, Alberta for forty-five years. Zaidee M. Stewart worked at the boat operation tea house and wrote poetry, publishing "Banff Holiday" in 1950.

- Iva Smith papers include personal correspondence, 1904-1973, and business papers pertaining to the CPR news stand, 1914-1924. Len Smith professional papers pertain to his work as boat engineer. Zaidee Stewart papers include correspondence, diaries, poetry and papers re the publication "Banff Holiday."
