History / Biographical
Cecil Robinson Philpott, d.1985, was an electrician Banff, Alberta, Canada. After coming to Banff in 1929, he worked for Canadian Pacific Hotels and later owned his own electrical contracting service. Philpott was active in numerous community organizations. He retired to Calgary, Alberta, ca.1980.
Scope & Content
Fonds pertains to Banff community organizations and issues, including Banff Advisory Council, Banff National Park Health Unit, Banff Park Citizens Association, Banff Senior Citizens Society, local autonomy, land rents and leases, recreation centre and skating rink and Banff Mineral Springs Hospital. The papers are mainly Philpott's correspondence with federal politicians, letters to the editor, notes, etc. Also includes minutes, reports, clippings of local boards of which Philpott was a member or a critic. Photographs pertain to Banff Springs Hotel fire, construction and activities; Banff Winter Carnival, 1920s; miscellaneous Banff photographs.
