The hood has a corded cotton drawstring threaded through to loosen or tighten and below there is an opening with three buttons at the neck. There are two slit pocket opening with buttons to open and close, and a cord threaded through the bottom of the jacket to pull through for tightening. The cuffs have a flap with a button and hole to tighten around the wrists.

It is soldered together at the points above the nail. There is a round hole through each side. Engraved with “LONGWARE” and “H.G.” on the same side. (b) A metal bong (10.0 widex13.0.cm high, 5.80cm depth) is folded in half held together by a piece of metal that look like a doubled-headed nail and nailed down, so that it is open at all other points. There is a round hole through each side. Engraved with “LONGWARE” and “H.G.” on the same side. On the inside remnants of “125” and” KA”(c) A metal bong (5.0 widex13.0.cm high, 4.50cm depth) is folded in half held together by a piece of metal that look like a doubled-headed nail and nailed down, so that it is open at all other points. Engraved with “LONGWARE” and “H.G.” on the same side.(d) A metal bong, darker because it’s made out of steel, (8.0 widex12.0.cm high, 5.0cm depth) is folded in half and pinched together at one end so that it is open at all other points. There is a round hole through each side for a carabiner or rope to go through. Engraved with “LONGWARE” on one side “H.G.” on the other.(e) A heavy metal oval carabiner with a gate than non-locking gate mechanism. “CJB” is engraved on the side.

The insert is white foam covered with ridged teal blue cover, a black leather chin strap with metal buckle, inside plastic headband, clear plastic covering, fabric, criss-cross rigging support with cord and heavy-duty nylon strip suspension to create a space between skull and hardhat. A metal zipper attaching (to three quarters of the insert) earflaps outer black plastic inner lined with red and black corduroy. There is a white fabric tag with “M” in red on the inner grey headband and a gold and black oblong label glued on the front with black lettering on a gold-coloured background “Russell Sporting Goods CALGARY”. - A carabiner with two pitons hanging from it:a) a D-ring carbiner (10.3x5.0cm wide) made out of aluminum alloy; it has a spring lock mechanism with a safety bar in the gate. On one side it has “CHOUINARD” in raised upright block letters, followed by “H G” horizontally. The opposite side has “H” horizontally, “820” “G” horizontally “P” within a circle “ALCOA” followed by Chouinard’s diamond logo and “775”. This carabiner is light, strong and uncomplicated.(b) a hand-forged horizontal piton (8.8x2.60cm wide 3.0cm high) with a flat blade and raised side ‘handle’, viewer’s left, with a round hole. On the handle there is hand engraved “C” and what could be “m e”. This may have been an early Yvon Chouinard when he was making pitons in a garage. There is also “H G” below that.(c) a hand-forged horizontal piton (8.0x3.2cm wide 3.5 high) with a flat, thin, sharp blade and raised side ‘handle’, viewer’s right, with a round hole. Made of of Chrome-moly steel. There is stamp, Yvon Chouinard’s logo, a diamond with a “C” in the centre and “U.S.A” underneath.
