- Riggall's Grandson John Russell provided idendifications on some photographs they are as follows:
- PA - 21 The pack saddle as we used them on the Riggall/Russell packtrain. On the Right is the crooper which went under the root of the horse's tail and kept the pack from sliding forward over the horse's head. (Some people use britching for this is slung lower half way between tail and hawks) In front of saddle is the neck yoke or strap the holds the pack from sliding over the tail when the horse is going up a steep slope. Between the forks is the rope for tying the box hitch. Below is the latigo to the cinch that holds the saddle tight on the horse. Hanging on the nail and board is the pack rope with the other pack cinch and peak cinch hook made out of oak wood. It was the pack rope with which the diamond hitch was thrown.
- PA - 22 to 28 Photos labeled 3a and 3b by me are different ways to finish the box hitch. 3a shows the 2 rope tied together while 3b shows each and hoing around the forks of the saddle and tying off to the same flat not. Made from it.
