- Also known as "Arctic Rampage," directed by Peter Hunt in 1981 and starred Charles Bronson, Lee Marvin, and Angie Dickinson. Loosely based on the true-life story of Albert Johnson (The Mad Trapper of Rat River) who was pursued by the Mounted Police in the Northwest Territories and Yukon after shooting a police constable in 1932. Filmed entirely in the Canmore/Spray Lakes area, apart from one scene at the Athabasca Glacier, Jasper National Park. "Death Hunt" was the first film to use Canmore and the Spray Valley as primary set locations, and many locals were recruited as extras. Additionally, dog teams were brought from throughout Alberta for Mad Trapper pursuit scenes on the Spray Lakes Reservoir. Mountaineer and Association of Canadian Mountain Guide Tim Auger stood in as a body double for Bronson for some scenes.

- "Days of Heaven," 1976, directed by Terrence Malick, starring Richard Gere, Brooke Adams, and Linda Manz. A Chicago steelworker escapes to Texas with his girlfriend and sister. The trio joins a group of itinerant harvesters to work on a ranch owned by a bachelor farmer. Believing the young couple to be brother and sister, the farmer falls in love with the girl. The young boyfriend encourages the relationship and eventual marriage in hopes they can inherit the farm. Location: Two short scenes in Waterton Lakes National Park. Primary set location on a Hutterite colony near Raymond, Alberta. Other scenes filmed near Lethbridge and at Calgary’s Heritage Park. Won the Oscar for Best Cinematography

Topics include: Going into our first camp on the bars of the Chitina River being a half days run from "Rush Pound," where we stopped and had lunch on the way in ; Packing up at Brysons, being the old camp ground of the Surveys (Barny Bryson) and from which point a trail leads out of the valley of the Chitina (rising 3000 ft) and leading to the head of the Young Creek. MacCarthy took this trail coming in coming out last summer after the reconnaissance. This is the 4th. camp out from McCarthy the next 16 miles to Short River ; Short river Camp, 5th camp out from McCarthy and only 7 miles out from Hubricks. Mountain in back on other side of Chitina Valley. Crossed Clear Water, Canon and Short river before reaching this camp ; Eastward up the valley of the Chitina Valley Tree islands and the morain covered toe of the Chitina Glacier showing. Hubricks Camp near point shown on left, just showing ; The Chitina Valley below Hubrick's Camp distant horizon being the toe of the Chitina Glacier. Mt. Logan would be, if visible, direct centre looking up Chitina Gl. ; Panorama taken from a point on the Chitina just off the N.W. corner of the Chitina Glacier toe, at an old Trig Sta. which seemed to be part of old base line. Shows the range on the south side of the Chitina Valley and the last straight down the valley of the Chitina ; All a little blurred as focus in error set at 15 yrd. Panorama of the range on the south side of the Chitina River Valley, from a point 1/3 mile east of Hubrick's Camp. Logan in distant centre in 433 & 434 [452 & 453] ; Laing in front of his dungeon (Pup Tent). The afternoon's careful inspection of Logan equipment ; Survey tripod on the bars below toe of Chitina Glacier to N.W. line of bace line poasts leading away to W. No end of base mark showing ; From the summit point of the Terminal morains of the Chitina Glacier looking straight west down the valley and showing the trench between the glacier and the N. wall of the valley up which the trail lead to the last point of horse transport, "Trail End" ; The group on the ice in front of "Trail end Camp" ; Ice of the Chitina completely covered with debris, from the shore line on the N. side looking forward to Chitina Point ; Walsh camp at the end of the Chitina Point, the side of an old survey camp of 1913, facing a stretch of water directly off the point, the junctions of the Chitina and Walsh Glaciers ; Group, as per preceding negative showing drift and exposed dry wood on beech, old shore of long since sunken lake. - File pertains to photographs - mostly prints, also negatives and one glass slide - of the Mount Logan Expedition of 1925. Photographs of the Mount Logan Expedition were mainly produced by H. F. Lambart; also some by A. H. MacCarthy. All images are housed in the original brown envelopes used by the ACC and contain typed notes on the exteriors. Topics include: Rocky cove, resting for lunch an hour before reaching the "Fraser - Baldwin Cache" ; See description preceeding negative ; "Baldwin Fraser Cache" an old survey base camp of 1913 used in conjunction of the trip up the Baldwin on the attack of the shoulder of St. Elias that year and base camp for operations up the Logan Glacier by Dennis Mussell and others. Much old material strewn about. The last timber. Camp left on the morning of the 22nd, of May ; "B. & F Cache" ; "B & F Cache" ; Party starting out to the clear ice straight out in front May 21 to mark trail and to help matters on the morrow when camp is struck ; Striking Camp May 22 ; Sledding on the Logan glacier from the crossing of the boundary line on the Logan Glacier to Turn Camp at the junction of the Ogilvie and Logan Glaciers. Mt. Logan in centre distance very dim ; Resting on the snow covered surface of the Logan Glacier just below the end of the Ogilvie Glacier, showing the point Turn & the western end of Logan in the far distance ; With the sleds on the Logan Glacier, a rest for lunch near the junction of the Logan and Ogilvie Glacier ; Camp on the morains of the Ogilvie Glacier "Turn Cache" Cache left here 7 days for 8 men. Back ground, looking up the Ogilive Glacier, mountains the "Turn" side of the Glacier, left side ; Photographs of the tents and Camp on the morains of the Ogilvie Glacier ; At "Turn Cache." Cache, 8 mi. distant ; Lunching at Cascade camp site looking down the Ogilvie Glacier ; An avalanche hear the end of the ice fall of the upper Ogilvie Glacier ; Ice fields and tributary glaciers at the head of the Ogilvie Glacier.
