- Abstract
- Starring Joel McCrea as an ex-rodeo start turned sheep farmer, Mustang Country is an exciting family adventure set in the wilderness. With the help of an orphaned Native American teen (Nika Mina), a mare called Rosie, and a scene-stealing dog named Luke, Dan (McCrea) tracks down a magnificent black stallion along the Canadian border circa 1925. Filmed on location in Banff National Park near Alberta, Canada, and co-starring Patrick Wayne (son of John) and Robert Fuller, this appealing film was the final movie starring Western favorite Joel McCrea" (back of DVD)

- Abstract
- Born in the west but raised initially in the east, Dale Portman was eight years old when his family headed back to the land of the Rockies. Growing up in Calgary, he was introduced to the Rocky Mountains at an early age and as a young man eventually found work in Banff National Park, where he spent most of his time in the saddle while working for outfitter Bert Mickle, based out of Skoki Lodge near Lake Louise. Jobs in the local tourist industry and at a couple of ski hills followed. Eventually Dale was drawn to the warden service, doing avalanche control and forecasting in Rogers Pass, with the backcountry of northern Jasper, Yoho National Park and Field, BC, eventually becoming the stage for many memorable, humorous, tragic and life-affirming moments. The Green Horse takes the reader on a journey through a time when our mountain national parks were less touristy and more substantive. When there was space for everyone to enjoy without having to line up and there was a sense of freedom and adventure in the air. (From Rocky Mountain Books website)

- Abstract
- Lee McLean was born to ride ... and to write. In these pages, you will enter the world of a master horsewoman and ride with her through the seasons of the year, and the ages and stages of life. The stories come from a riding journal kept for over forty-five years, and the best of her Keystone Equine blogs. Distilled into one year, but made up of many, they reflect a life lived in the saddle. As much about human nature as about horses, this book will become a resource you turn to, again and again. It offers sound technical advice, paired with storytelling, humour and the gift of healing. -- From inside cover
