Title: Beaded Necklace

Date: 1860 – 1875

Material: skin; glass

Dimensions: 47.0 cm

Description: An eight strand coil beaded loop necklace, white beads wound around leather strands, with brass and wooden beads at the nadir of each strand. Two pieces of harness leather at each end with the strand leathers brought through them to form fringe, and hanging ties at the top of each piece of harness leather. Ties would tie immediately behind neck. A brass necklace with pony beads in a traditional men’s design. During Treaty times the Stoney were enamoured with brass and would barter for it for decorative purposes.*custom made plexi glass display in bottom of box
