Description
An accordian-style bound book with green brocade silk cover. A piece of beige silk edged in gold is at the upper left of the cover and has Japanese characters printed on it. The cover pages are flecked with gold. Inside the first two pages have Japanese text that has been partially translated into English in pen. The english reads “Artist Fukamiza” “Mr. J.E. Brown” “Canada Association”. Inside are paintings of people (mostly women) and landcapes, all with black and red stamps on one page in Japanese. The months of the year are written in pencil in bottom right corners - in order.

Translator of print commented : Drawn by: Ichi bai tei(?), sai(?) ho. In images of the floating world Ichibaishi is also known as Yoshimine.

Description
Spiral-bound sketchbook with red and white-patterned cardboard covers and a black fabric elastic band attached to the back cover for the purpose of holding the book closed. Contents include scene sketches from a 1934 trip to Japan by Peter and Catharine. Consists mostly of people sitting at tables presumably playing cards, Catharine reading the newspaper, figure studies, and a horse-drawn 2-wheel carriage.

Description
A Japanese sketchbook with ecru-coloured brocade covers, no spine, with folding pages designed accordion-style, but made in such a way pages are double-backed and are two pages wide so that it is possible to paint or sketch on both sides. On the front cover, viewer’s left, there is a glued piece of off-white paper 10.4x2.0cm wide, and on the back inside cover, viewer’s left there is a chop mark (1.0x0.50cm wide) in ochre ink.
