- History / Biographical
- Aileen Harmon (1912 - 2015), daughter of Byron Harmon, worked as a government naturalist at Banff, Alberta, Canada and was involved in local natural history groups and activities. Aileen was a founding member, alongside Bruce Gordon, of the Bow Valley Naturalists, and was also on the Board of The Canadian Wildlife Federation and The Society of Alberta Naturalists. Aileen moved to Mill Bay on Vancouver Island, B.C. in 1981 following the end of a lengthy career with Parks Canada. During her retirement years, Aileen travelled extensively, reaching all seven continents. She also authored an autobiographical book, titled "Tales of My Mountain Life", in 2004. Aileen passed away on January 9, 2015 at the age of 102.

Photographs, made by and collected by Aileen Harmon, pertain to Aileen Harmon and friends, skiing, Skoki area, Mount Yamnuska, Banff Indian Days. Includes photographs by Byron Harmon. Added content from accession 2016.8596 : ca. 25 cm of textual records including personal correspondence, guest book, original writing and notes by Aileen Harmon, personal travel journals from a 1931 packing trip and 1933 ski trip to Skoki, drafts of autobiographical book "Tales of My Mountain Life", articles pertaining to or written by Aileen Harmon, Christmas cards, and letters of condolence to Carole Harmon following Aileen's passing. - Charlie Hunter, 1888-1982, was a guide and outfitter at Pincher Creek, Banff, Rocky Mountain House and Nordegg, Alberta. Hunter was born in Illinois, USA and came to Pincher Creek in 1904. There he began his career as a guide and outfitter, expanding to the Banff area in 1930s. Hunter travelled extensively throughout the world.

- History / Biographical
- Malcolm Daniel Geddes, 1866-1927, was a journalist, publisher and mountaineer at Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Geddes was one of the founders of the "Farmers and Ranch Review" in 1904, and served as vice-president and editor until his death. He joined the Alpine Club of Canada in 1917, was active in ACC summer camps and served as Honorary Secretary from 1924 to 1926. Geddes was killed in a mountaineering accident on Mount Lefroy in 1927.

- Nancy Townshend's book on art inspired by the Canadian Rockies, Purcell Mountains, and Selkirk Mountains presents these mountains' justifiable prominence in world art. For over two centuries, Canadian artists have admired their magnitude and grandeur, their endlessly changing light and atmospheric conditions, their four distinct seasons, and myriad other aspects. The book is organized chronologically into three eras: traditional (1809 –1899), Modern (1900–1973) and contemporary (1974–2012). From David Thompson's watercolours in the early nineteenth century (c. 1809) of the East Kootenays to Jan Kabatoff's multimedia art of the early twenty-first century that addresses the impact of global warming on glaciers, Townshend's book presents a whole gamut of Canadian art inspired by these great mountains. Featuring three comprehensive overviews and thirteen chapters on both central and western Canadian artists, as well as a chapter on American artist John Singer Sargent, the book offers insights into their art and inspirations. What did two centuries of artistic exploration in the infinitely facetted Canadian Rockies, Purcells and Selkirks yield? How did the resulting works of art serve to build a unique western Canadian identity? How does the West inform Canadians about themselves, about their own place in the world at this critical time in world history? Townshend answers these questions in this significant reference book for decades to come. Over the past two hundred years, a shift from the exploitative view of Canada's mountain West during the traditional era to the contemporary creative genesis of this area has occurred. Because of the contemporary artists' commitment to wildlife conservation and environmental issues, the contemporary era is more outward looking and expansive, concerned about the world's future. Townshend's all-encompassing text and selected stunning images confirm John Ruskin's observation that mountains are "the beginning and end of all natural scenery."
